The dreadnought is arguably the most popular acoustic guitar shape in the world, and Martin were the inventors of it! Dreadnoughts are known for being one the louder body shapes thanks to its big sound and excellent projection. This shape is responsive to both strumming and fingerpicking so it'll handle whatever style you throw at it.
Construction
The powerful Dreadnought body is complemented by the tonewoods on this guitar. The rosewood back and sides provide excellent low and high end response with a rich, complex character, while the Sitka spruce top has a balanced sound. The result is a versatile tone that can be used for a wide range of styles. This guitar has a modified low oval neck, a rounded shape that fills the hand nicely. The high-performance neck taper keeps the neck comfortable whether you're playing open chords reaching those upper frets.
Fishman Matrix VT Enhance Electronics
This guitar is ready to perform thanks to the built-in Fishman Matrix VT Enhance electronics. The Enhance undersaddle pickup is designed to bring out the dynamics and percussiveness in your playing. You can blend this in or out with the discreet, soundhole mounted preamp that also features volume and tone controls for shaping your sound. Whether you're performing live into an amp/PA, or you're recording into an audio interface, the D-16E is ready to go right out of the box!
